just wondering if anyone knew whether colby posts admissions decisions online or if you only get them through snail mail

They did both last year. If I remember right, S got the snail mail decision on Saturday, but the decisions were available online on Friday. He didn’t even bother checking online since he was out of town on Friday for a big event. Didn’t want to stress out.

Does anyone know if Colby e-mails international students their admission decisions, and if yes, around when?

mountains, do you happen to remember the date the big news arrived?

Am i the only one that thinks maybe maybe maybe decisions will be released before April 1st?

i think maybe they might be (not necessarily by much though… =/ ).
if anyone has any insight into when we might get decisions, it would be greatly appreciated!

ChiSquare - It was definitely March 28, 2008 for the online decision and the envelope came on March 28, 2008 (we’re in New England) - but we didn’t “see” it until the next day since we were away. They mailed it on March 26, 2008 (I keep putting the year so people don’t think I know what’s going to happen this year). Here’s a link to the Admission blog from last year:

[Colby College | Blogs and Podcasts | Behind the Decision - 48 Hours](http://www.colby.edu/news_events/feeds/feed-item.cfm?feedname=Behind%20the%20Decision&postid=1409216)

wow, cool, thanks mountains. The date obviously made an impact in your family!

ChiSquare - It was actually easy to remember since S had the lead role in a state drama festival that Saturday (and it’s on my calendar) and we came home to quite a number of college decisions that Saturday.

I wanted S to check online but he refused.

Windsonglibra - Colby not email the decisions but they sent it by express mail. They will also be available online. The college will put up the date in the “check you application” page 4-5 days before they give out their decisions.

Thank you! I’m really anxious to hear from Colby.

when will we know?

I know how anxious everyone is. I tried to call Colby but there was no one there to answer. They must be swamped. So I did some sleuthing by reading Dory’s Admission Blog.

They mailed the letters on a Wednesday in 2007 (March 28).
They also mailed the letters on a Wednesday in 2008 (March 26).

Dory’s latest blog states that she is going on vacation starting on Tuesday, March 24. Could it be that Colby will keep up its Wednesday mailing tradition and send out the letters on Wednesday, March 25, 2009? I doubt if a key admissions person would leave for vacation unless the admissions process was over.

But, this is pure conjecture on my part.

I wish everyone the best. Colby has been fabulous for my S (who is now home on spring break).

so does that mean we would be able to check our decisions online on wednesday (assuming your theory proves to be correct, which is highly likely!) or would we have to wait til later to check them online

mountains, thanks for your sleuthing!

chigirl, I seem to remember a Colby admissions person at the info session saying that they send the decisions out on a Wednesday usually and then post them online on Saturday or Friday afternoon or something, to minimize the deluge of admissions office calls until after the weekend, when the decisions have had a chance to sink in. So maybe mountains is right about the decisions going out this Wednesday!

LaMariposaAzul, I remember the same thing. Maybe it was the same admissions person.

I’m pretty sure the online decisions were not available until 5 pm, Friday. Boy, I remember the angst of not finding out until we got home Saturday since S refused to check online.

wait so its gonna be this friday? 27th??

That’s just a wild guess on my part, not from Colby, based on last year’s results. Their website still says April 1 (which they haven’t changed).
