Hi! Does anyone have any experience with attending an online high school and apply to NYU, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, Elon, etc.? My daughter is looking to switch to an online high school. How do top colleges view these? Assuming if she has high test scores with a high gpa, she will be fine…
She is currently looking at Laurel Springs and International Virtual Learning Academy
My daughter is a Laurel Springs junior. The school is quite focused on getting kids ready for the college admissions process, offers AP and Honors classes and has a good track record - if you search on “Laurel Springs College Acceptance,” it should get you to a page that lists some of the schools their graduates have attended, including NYU, Carnegie Mellon and Northwestern. That being said, I think you are right that test scores are likely to be especially important for an applicant coming from an online school.
