Only 1 high school biology class for Neuroscience major?

Hi,

In high school I have only taken 1 biology class, and that was my freshman year. I took chemistry last year, am currently taking accelerated math physics and will take advanced physics and advanced astrophysics next year. I am really interested in economics, and I loaded up a lot of social studies classes for my senior schedule; however, after reading a couple psychology/neuroscience books I have really become interested in the field. If I decided to major in neuroscience, will I be punished by the lack of biology and chemistry courses in high school, or will I be able to learn everything in the intro courses?

Punished as in hurting your chances on getting into the school? Probably not. Admissions knows what courses your school offers, and won’t penalize you for not being able to take an AP bio class, for example.

Punished is in not be prepared for the major at college? You’ll be fine if you start in the intro courses. No one expects you to know anything coming in to college, unless you’re using AP credits to fulfill certain intro class requirements.
