I will be graduating early next year and took AP Calc BC this year (and got a 5) - my school offers a math seminar course, but it’s really just a study hall … in such a situation, would colleges care if I took another AP instead of a 3rd/4th year of math?
If you have already completed Calc BC you should be fine.
Also, I self studied and took the AP stat exam (but did not get HS credit), so I don’t see the point in taking the class.
For many colleges, completion of calculus creates the presumption that you know what is contained in the normal four years of high school math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, etc.). Exception: UCs in California want to know that you completed a geometry course (could have been in middle school), even if you have completed higher level math like precalculus and/or calculus.
If it is not clear on a college’s web site, ask the college directly to be sure. Example: “I have completed two years of math in high school, with calculus BC as the second course, and earned an ___ grade in the course and a 5 on the AP exam. Does this fulfill your math recommendation or requirement?”.
