I'm currently finishing up my junior year of high school. I took Spanish I freshman year (A+), Spanish II sophomore year (A+), and will complete Spanish III this year (A). I didn't struggle at all until this year. Although my grades don't show it, my Spanish teacher this year was horrendous and I've honestly learned nothing. I feel like I've actually backtracked in my knowledge of the language. I do not feel the least bit prepared to continue on and take Spanish IV Honors next year. I'm looking at pretty selective LACs, and most recommend 3-4 years of a foreign language. How much will it hurt me not to take Spanish next year? My course load is still very rigorous without it: AP Lit, AP Euro, AP Art History, Honors Physics, Honors Pre-Calc, Peer Leadership, Conscious of Man (Holocaust and human rights history course), and a required Phys. Ed/Health class

IMO, you are fine with the three years of a language. Particularly with your grades in the language.

you’ll be fine IMO
