I took the SAT yesterday along with many other high school students. The first section (essay) seemed to be a great topic and I thought I could really nail it. Here’s the problem: I only developed one example. I believe it was a fantastic example and really emphasized my argument, but right after finishing that detailed body paragraph, the proctor called the 5 minute mark. As you can imagine, my next body paragraph/conclusion was not up-to-par. My introduction was clean, and so was that one paragraph. Does anyone have any advice or idea of what score i may recieve. BTW, my entire essay only took up 1.5 pages. I heard that using big words (i did use some) and writing the full 2 pages guarantees a 10 at least? What’s worse is that for the entire SAT, all i could think about was that essay. Please help, any advice is appreciated (even constructive criticism).
Sometimes a great first body graf can wow the graders enough that they overlook a weak second body graf, but I don’t know if I’d count on it. If they examine that second body graf carefully and find it lacking (esp. if it betrays poor reasoning!), your score will suffer.
