Only High School Activites on Application?

Okay, so I'm applying to programs at Georgetown, Brown, and BU as a freshman and was wondering if it was okay to put things I did in middle school on the application as long as I am still doing them. For example-- I play the oboe and made All-District 2 years in middle school. I'm going to try out this year, but that isn't for a few weeks. Can I put the all-district on the app, or no because it's middle school? (I have a similar situation with piano, too.) And although I've only done about 20 hours of community service this year, I've done about 100 if you count middle school-- can I list the 100 hours or do I have to put 20? What about putting down National Junior Honor Society? I mean, I'm only a freshman so I don't have that many high school accomplishments yet, and my app would be way stronger if I could add middle school things too. Thanks!

Admission committees want to see more of a high school "portfolio" in their applicants, thus it is really high school they care about. Although I don't recommend it, I don't see a problem in putting down middle school activities, since you are only a freshman. But of course, I am not an expert.

I think they would take into consideration the fact that you're only a freshman. I'm no expert, but I feel that loading your resume with middle school activities would suggest that you're trying to beef it up with whatever you can find.

^ Agreed, don't make yourself look desperate or something. I would put things that are continuations, but probably omit the actual awards.

Then again, you are a freshman, yes? I guess you wouldn't have much else to put down : P

Yeah, I was pretty sure that they wanted high school only. Just thought I'd check, because I really haven't done anything great in the past 5 months. :/

I left out the NJHS and put the places I've done community service instead of hour counts, but for oboe I did go ahead and say 1st chair all-district along with what I've done in high school. (Soloist/ 1st chair symphonic band) Hope that goes over well!
