Only reading Barron's for AP History tests

So i am a junior and i am self-studying 3 history AP tests.
I've been reading the textbooks since like september last year but then i stopped reading it for awhile because of things going on in my family. :(
I started reading those textbooks again a few weeks ago and can't remember anything i read before. I was trying to re-read everything again but then it was just too much.
I checked Barron's and they have pretty good explanations and its much SHORTER.
I think for textbooks it takes like 5 paragraphs to get to only 2 important points and for Barron's, it just simply gives the information you need more quicker and clear.
so my question is ...

Could i still get above 4 only reading and memorizing Barron's in history tests or any other subject like psychology, environmental science, and government?

When people self-study for AP tests, do they buy actual textbooks and read them? or only study Barron's or Princeton Review?

thanks <33

Barrons??? Please see the thread APUSH Showdown currently on page 2 on this board. Barrons APUSH book is not the best choice. I recommend that you order copies of Amsco and Crash Course. Most CCers agree that they are the best sources. Also check out the post APUSH preparation also on page 2.

I completely agree with dark knight.

Get AMSCO for APUSH, Barrons/PR for APWH, Barrons for Psychology, Smartypants for Environmental Science, and PR for government (US).

Most of us buy prep books and study off that. However, certain materials do require textbooks or are enjoyable with textbooks. One of them would be Calculus, Physics, or even AP WH (Traditions and Encounters is an awesome book).

Definitely Amsco and Crash Course for APUSH. Crash Course did a great job for AP Government. Cliffs for Bio.

APUSH - AMSCO all the way.

APWH - Barron’s. Maybe, but at least it’s more informative than PR.
