OOS Admission Rate-2010

any idea on how the UC budget crisis might affect some of our decisions...?

It’ll increase your chances. The school needs more pupils paying full tuition. It’s all over The Daily Bruin. We are trying to recruit interntional/OOS students to make up for the budget cuts.

UCLA had indicated at a counselor conference that the freshman enrollment reduction will be coming out entirely from the in-state applicant pool (300 seats eliminated, which will translate roughly to about 600 acceptances evaporating from the in-state pool). The implication is that OOS students will have a better chance compared to in-state applicants.

whohoo, i hope so : P

Do OOS applicants only have to pay full tuition for the first year if the apply for residency status afterwards?

no, they will make sure that won’t happen because it undermines what they set out to do

I believe as long as your parents are footing the bill that your residency is where they live. If you could prove you are completely independent and supporting yourself and paying 100% of college yourself than maybe you could get residency. Most of the time you are an OOS for the four years.
