OOS Chances

I am a senior from Los Angeles.
I applied EA
GPA: 3.9 weighted (My school does not do class rank, I have a class of 1048-yeah its big- and im definitely in the top 8-10%
SAT: R: 660 M: 630 W: 640 1930 total
US History: 770 Bio: 620
ACT: I have been practicing and all my tests are around a 31/32.
AP Tests: 5 AP Euro 5 AP Enviro 5 AP US 3 AP English
Im also taking 4 APs this year which will give me a total of 8 in high school (I know UNC likes to see course rigor)
EC: Involved in 4 clubs and have a leadership position in 2
I work at a local soccer league, so I have some work exp.
I volunteer for a local aquarium sponsored by Heal the Bay as well as tree people, another large environmental group in LA. In Heal the Bay, us volunteers were recognized for being influential in banning the plastic ban by the city of Santa Monica.
thanks

The unweighted GPA is more important than the weighted. If it is above 3.7 you will probably get in; if it is below 3.7 you will probably be deferred. You’ll just have to wait and see. I don’t think it is going to help you that UNC likes to see course rigor. Good Luck!!

UNC or UM…?

I honestly think it’s a long shot, unless you pull a 31+ ACT. Your SAT scores aren’t high for Umich and your GPA is pretty low - they weight GPA/class rank above SAT/ACT scores too. Both UNC and UM are pretty difficult OOS, especially UNC.

Best of luck

While the ACT practice tests are good practice, they aren’t completely accurate with scoring. If you can get within that 31/32 range, you will have a fair chance with your leadership and ECs.

Slight reach

UW GPA is more important. 3.7 is (I think) the magic number for a heavy AP load. Your AP results look pretty good so far.

Weak SAT. Make sure that you get a 30+ on the ACT

Sounds like you’re strong on ECs

What’s your unweighted? Looking like both SAT and GPA is below range right now if you’re under a 3.7 or so unweighted so it’s a reach.
