<p>Not true. There are merit awards that some OOS with high grades/test scores may get which provide some tuition relief and the amount is sometimes close to OOS portion of tuition but UIUC does not excuse OOS generally from paying OOS tuition after first year or any year. Moreover, qualifying for in-state tuition for someone who starts as OOS is not easy. Basically, either your parents have to move here or you need to be independent of parents (meaning they do not contribute at all to your college costs) and have lived and worked in Illinois for a year (and you cannot count your time you are here for college towards that year)</p>
