OOS Transfer Rates?

I was looking at 2012 transfer thread and it seems that a lot of transfers to UT are from Texas schools (be it community colleges or otherwise). This got me thinking about transfer rates for out of state students. Is preference given to local students, like in freshmen admissions, or would OOS students be considered just like anyone else? Also, what are the chances for OOS transfers to get the coveted $1000 from UT and get in-state tuition?

Oops, I was looking at *the 2012 transfer thread

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter where you come from school wise. Residency does matter, however. It’s easier for residents to transfer into UT than non residents, but if you’re a resident coming from an out of state school you’re still a resident. Hope that makes sense haha.

It does. Thanks, RGHelmcamp. I’m OOS no matter how you look at it, haha.

Probably due to the sheer volume of applicants/easier credit transferability…

My son transferred from OOS, GPA 3.5 for 30 units of CC. He was accepted as undeclared but then transferred the following year into his major. He had a poor GPA from high school (2.9) so if he can transfer, I think anyone can if they have a decent GPA for 30 units. However, even though they don’t look at SAT scores if you’re a transfer is SATs were pretty good.

Carmom23, that’s great! Congratulations to your son. Did he get an in-state tuition benefit or financial aid?
