Hey, so I am a freshmen at UIUC and absolutely hate it. I applied to U of Washington for the Summer 2017 and was wondering how hopeful I should be.
I have a terrible high school GPA that I explained. I was in the IB program and received my IB diploma though. My college GPA is a 3.3 and my essay is pretty strong. My ACT is a 27. I really want to go to UW like everyone else but I’m so nervous about getting accepted.
You only have one semester of grades, so likely your HS grades will count. How’d you get into UIUC with a terrible HS GPA? What was it?
UW is VERY expensive OOS. What are your parents saying about paying the $50k per year for you to go?
A 2.8 UW and a 3.9 weighted. I do not know how I got in tbh.
They are fine with it.
I called Admissions and they informed me that they always look at high school grades. Mine were kinda bad as well, I did IB and just got through.
I applied for Summer too and I’ve heard that they don’t accept a lot of students for the summer quarter and that they prefer students who are juniors from CCs.
Your college GPA also seems kind of low, did you explain that in your PS?
I know it’s hard but all we can do is wait!
From all the threads on collegeconfidential I found that most people begin hearing back around May 18th?
Good luck to you! Let us know when you hear back
