op-ed on Darfur too generic?

OK, I just finished six NYU essay and still have a "why Boston College" and "topic of your choice" essay to write for BC. This is literally the only school I'm applying to that offers "topic of your choice" so it's my only chance to recycle. Since BC is very service oriented I thought I would re-use my "op-ed on a topic of international concern" I wrote for one of Tuft's essay questions. I wrote my essay on the genocide in Darfur, it's well written and within word limits, and makes sense as a topic for me because I do divestment with my school's chapter of STAND. I am just worried that too many people will be writing about it. I mean, I guess doing STAND I should know that a woefully small number of Americans even know that Sudan is a country, but I figured that if anyone would know about the genocide and write about it, it would be applicants to top colleges. So, thoughts, please. Too generic or no?
Also, another small worry- I know BC is conservative. A very small part of my essay talks about how Bush called the crisis in Darfur genocide almost two years ago and has yet to do anything about it. I follow that up with talking about how insufficient 1997 sanctions were but I don't mention Clinton by name since it was really more about the UN. This is def. not a Bush-Bashing op-ed and ignoring genocide is and always has been bipartisan, I just don't want it to go over that way.
Wow, it probably would have been easier to just post my essay. Anyway, any thoughs would be appreciated.

bump, have to send in tomorrow morning

It sounds great to me...I think it's okay if your essay is a bit partisan even, it shows you're opiniated and hey, if it's your opinion and you've backed up your paper with good sources and a logical argument, you can't go wrong there. Good luck!
