Open House

My daughter is signed up for the October 27th Open House. Has anyone been to a Drexel Open House, and if so, what did you think of it, and are there any special tips that you can give us to make it a better experience? Thanks.

Hi! I know this is a little late, but I can totally give you some info on Drexel Open Houses! The October 27th OH is geared more towards the following colleges: business, media arts and design, and arts and sciences, professional studies, and education. So, if your daughter is looking into a major in one of those schools, this is the perfect day to go!

In the morning, there’s a presentation given to everyone attending the open house. Then, everyone is split up according to prospective major (it might just be by college, I’m not sure). At that point you get some more specific information regarding your specific program/college via a 2-hour presentation.

After this, it’s very much a free-for-all, which is a great way for you and your daughter to get more information about things that interest you. There are student panels about the co-op program, the honors college, study abroad, extra-curriculars, and undergraduate research. In addition to the panels, there are presentations regarding financial aid and the transfer process (if this applies to you). These are just a few of the options open to you. You can take a tours of the campus, the residence halls, the Greek houses, and the URBN center (College of Media Arts and Design). There are also representatives from various facets of the Drexel community (ROTC, Performing Arts, Athletics, Custom-Designed Major, to name a few) to whom you can talk.

Here’s a sample schedule! This one is for the 10/26 open house, but it should be pretty much the same. http://www.drexel.edu/~/media/Files/undergrad/pdf/events/openhouse/fall_agenda.ashx

My advice to you: plan, plan, plan (by looking at the schedule) to try to fit in as much as you can! If you have any questions about anything (I know this is a lot of info), feel free to ask!!
