What exactly is Open Registration (there’s two of them) and Pass 2? My orientation leader told us that only a small portion of classes are available to each orientation group to keep it fair, so I’m guessing Pass 1 Open Registration is when they all can be registered.

Open registration is when everyone is able to sign up for any classes offered to freshmen undergraduates. Also, during this time, students will be able to sign up to be on the waitlist of certain classes. For me, I will probably be waitlisting Math 17A because I might not get in during Pass 2. When you log in during Pass 2, they’ll show how many waitlisters there are and spots, etc.

You can’t waitlist during Pass 1 Open Reg; that option is available only during Pass 2 and beyond.

Phishy, what’s the difference between Pass 1 Open Reg and Pass 2?

Open registration during Pass 1 allows you to sign up for classes that have open spots. There’s no waitlist; if the class is closed, it’s closed and you can’t sign up. Waitlisting doesn’t happen until Pass 2. During Pass 2 (and all registration times afterward), if a class is full, you can still register and be put under the waitlist.

Pass 1 Open Registration is coming up. So I just go on sisweb when it starts and I can check any open classes and drop classes that I have?

bumping for lack of information

during open registration, can you register for classes that are major restricted?

I think that’s Pass 2…

Open registration, you can add any classes on the Open Course List, or drop.

How are pass 2 appointment times determined? Are they random or are they by the number of units you have? Because I have a pretty late pass 2 time for the number of units that I’m entering with…

Speaking of pass 2 does anyone know how to find out your pass 2 appointment time?

yes, log in onto sis web … its all there

Thanks. I found it now :).

You can also find your pass times on the front page of your My.Ucdavis under the My Classes section.

@plushminkie: Pass time are based on your academic standing/number of units you have completed. This may also include transferred units.
