Hello, I am a soprano in a very rural area. I’m looking for an Opera/voice music school that has great soprano teachers. Coming from a small town, I’d prefer a smaller school in a more rural area but with a quality undergrad program. I’ve been currently looking at the east coast and the northern US but I am open to anywhere in the states. Any suggestions?
Assuming you’re looking for a BM, not a BA, a few you might want to look at:
Baldwin Wallace
Lawrence
Oberlin
Carnegie Mellon (in Pittsburgh but not downtown) has an excellent soprano teaching there, but it’s a smaller program.
Happy New Year!

SUNY Purchase has an excellent classical voice/opera program - very small - my D freshmen class only has 12 total students . She is a soprano but has also sung mezzo parts when it needs to be filled out. Campus has a feeling of small town. Advantage is NYC is only 30 minutes away by train if you want to go. MET tickets can be as low as $10 for student.s
