So i know that Claremont colleges (Pomona, McKenna, etc) are good but i have never heard of Claremont Graduate university, is it as good as the other claremont colleges? It’s crazy expensive so is it really worth it? and if anyone knows anything about their psychology PLEASE share your experience/information! Thank you
Claremont Graduate University is a solid graduate-level university, but it’s not as prestigious or well-reputed within the graduate world as the Claremont Colleges are in the undergrad world. It’s actually middling to low-ranked as far as their PhD program in psychology is concerned. CGU PhD graduates pop up on some faculties, mostly in Southern California and the West Coast. One point in its favor is that it has one of the few positive psychology programs and is one of the places that started an interest in studying positive psychology in the 1960s.
Do you want to get an MA there, or a PhD? You shouldn’t pay for a PhD - you should get funding for tuition and fees plus a stipend that will cover your room and board. If you want an MA, the reputation of the school you got it from doesn’t realy matter so much if its a stepping stone to a PhD, but you shouldn’t take on massive debt.
