Opinion: Risk-taking Air Force hopes for defensive lift

Air Force’s defense will startle and manhandle opponents with a rollicking, blitz-happy scheme. At least, that’s the plan. </p>

<p>The reality could be different, radically different. Each August, Air Force defenders insist a new day is dawning. This year, they swear, will be a marked departure from last year. </p>

<p>That hasn’t been the truth for three straight seasons. Opposing offenses trampled all the hope, all the talk of change…

<p>I definitely think Air Force is going to be different this year. With Calhoun and DeRuyter, I think things will turn around. I won't predict anything, but I think Air Force's defense will be different. That has been their biggest problem. They gave up way too many points.
