I was recently admitted into UCSC but I don’t really know much about it or how it compares to other UC’s or even CSU’s. I was admitted as a psychology major. I’m curious about the overall feeling of the campus and student body. I also want to attend medical school in the future (I want to be a psychiatrist) so I’m curious how well UCSC could prepare me for that. Any information or opinions would be helpful.
Are you able to visit before making a decision? You can ask the opinions of others, but until you actually visit and step on campus, it is really hard to determine if you will be happy attending. Since Santa Cruz is fairly isolated, getting some medically related EC’s could be problematic. This is probably the only area I see a downside.
UCSC does have a Pre-Health advising center so you might want to call and ask your questions.
Yes i have an appointment for an “admitted students” tour mid-april. I was mostly just looking for some ideas of what people’s experience with UCSC has been since all I really know is what I’ve read on the UCSC website. Thank you for the link to their pre-health center, I’ll look into that!
you need to visit the school - it is a really unique place that you will love or hate.
