Opinions of school choices...

I am interested in Computer Engineering or Computer Science. These are the schools that I picked:
UT Austin* (#12)
*For UT Austin, even though this school has a very high ranking on engineering, but this school is a state school of Texas, and I am from Louisiana. Do you think it would be an awkward choice for me?

Southern Methodist University (SMU)
Louisiana State University - Baton Rouge (LSU)
This two schools above does not have a very good ranking (LSU #95 SMU #100). Should I pay attention to rankings?

Well, What do you think about these schools? These schools appears to have courses of what I wanted though. I think my major concern would be looking for a good job.

UT Austin would not necessarily be awkward for you, unless you could not get in or could not afford to attend (out of state costs can be expensive). Texas A&M may be more more financially viable option, since some of its merit scholarships come with out of state tuition waivers.

UT Austin would likely attract non-local recruiters better than LSU or SMU. If you attend one of the latter, you may have to be more aggressive at looking for companies to apply to for jobs and internships.

I see. Thanks.

More comments from others would be welcome.

Additional question:
If I go apply for a job (not employers coming in to do interns), do people bias for colleges that have high rank in engineering?

Not as much as a lot of other majors, but name brand always has value.

All right, thanks.
