What does everyone thing of Flagler College? This forum seems dead, so I wanted to open it back up. Any thoughts welcome. :)

Hey! I go to Flagler now. What would you want to study? At a glance: student involvement, causual atmosphere, & small class sizes. Le me know any details you’re interested in!

Hey, so I’ve been wondering. Not that it is a big factor in my choosing a college, but I know that Flagler doesn’t allow female and male students into eachother’s rooms. My question is, is Flagler strict?

I have heard the dorms are amazing! Is this true? How do you find the student population to be? Is it very safe? Thank you for the replies! :)

lornadune: Policy wise, yes they’re a little strict. There is no interdorm visitation but next year they will be opening a dorm for honors students (GPAs 3.7 or higher i think) that will house both males & females, although still separated by halls. There is also no drinks or drugs on campus. Each hall has two RAs but they don’t breathe down your neck or anything. They’re usually pretty cool & don’t bother you unless you’re obviously running down the hall drunk or something. There is no religious affiliation.

FLFriend: The population is quite laid back. A nice mix of partiers & non-partiers. Generally pleasant in disposition. People seem to make friends fairly quick becuse the campus is centralized & all students live on campus their freshman year. The dorms are pretty cool because they’re the old Ponce de Leon Hotel rooms. Many have fire places (although no longer usable) & they’re all unique in shape. There are also no community bathrooms, which is wonderful.

How do you like sharing a room with another person? Is it hard to grow accustomed to, or does being in the beautiful rooms make it better, haha :)

Well I never really had an issue with it (& I am an only child!). My roomate & I got along very well & are still best friends. I shared a bathroom with 3 other girls & we never really had any problems; it’s certainly better that sharing a communal bathroom with the whole hall like you might at another school!

Thanks for responding!
How are the scholarships at this school because I have heard they are very generous?
Do you happen to know the stats of someone who would get the full tuition scholarship??

Sure! Yes, there are quite a few scholarships, there’s a lot of wealthy donors involved with the school. Uhm, no I wouldn’t but with federal aid (not loans), a Flagler need scholarship, & a few little merit scholarships, I only pay $650 a semester! Which is probably not the norm but that’s like ONE class at other privates. I’m very thankful.

How is gay life at flagler?

I’m not gay myself, but its pretty big at Flagler and accepted.
