The average as of this year for the SSAT is 88%.
Acceptance rate is down to 38%.
Boarding School Review is totally outdated.

Aussie, where did you get your information?

Ad. Rep

10 char

i also looked into northfield mount hermon. does anyone have any advice or info on it?

pomegranate: there are many threads on Northfield on the board...Do a search and you can find them. There are parents here of current students who are very happy with NMH. Also, several posters will be entering there in the fall. I have a feeling you may be getting some PMs from them soon. :)

Aussie, do you have a link to the 88% SSAT average? The acceptance rate for 06-07 was 46% according to Peterson's. 88% seems way too high.

I am thrilled to be going to Andover.

are you considering schools on the west coast? believe me, there are some fanastic schools out west. but if you're only considering east coast, i would recommend mercersburg.

Jonathan....Aussie said he got his info from the Kent admissions rep.

mercersburg people are very friendly :D at least their staff is

and no, kent is NOT a safety. it is an AMAZING school. i didn't apply, though, (it wasn't the best fit for me) and i'm very, very happy with the school i'm going to be attending.

Lol, Starry

i applied to kent and got in but, i got off the waitlist at my top choices! Yeah, but this year was extremely competitive.
Why didn't you apply to kent?

You can go to the following site and select the schools you want to compare.

You can compare the schools side by side up to three schools at a time.

Compare Boarding Schools - Boarding School Review

Kent could or could not be a safety depending on your stats and everything.

It's a boarding high school, near the college by the same name. You can even learn to fly a plane there--n high school! One third of the students are girls.

The only downside is you have to wear a uniform (a la military uniform). My D was all set to go for 10th grade, but at the last minute, her dad nixxed it after having promised her she could go.

She wound up at our state's public boarding school for gifted kids in the 11th grade, and she's pretty happy there.

You basically listed the top schools, as everyone keeps saying. Try some smaller schools like Kent, Lawrenceville, Middlesex (shameless plug for my school!), etc. Oh, and Lawrence, St. Mark's, NMH, etc.

Also, I said y'all in my interviews! My interviewers all loved me, said it "was like having coffee with a friend" (I actually got that from 3/4 of them). Put on that southern charm! They like it. Seriously, a lot of these schools love southerners. We give them geographic diversity.

thanks again!! since posting i've added loomis chaffee, middlesex, kent, and deerfield...decided against nmh, not really my thing!! :)

Take a look at Berkshire...

What is "your thing?" Another poster asked what your interests were but we never got to find out. I bet people would have more suggestions if you were more forthcoming. :)
