Opinions on sending an EC update to colleges

Do you guys think I Should send an update to the top tier colleges I applied to about what is going on in my extracurricular life since I applied. With admissions getting more competitive, I want to give myself ever possible advantage. These are some highlights of what I would mention:
-submitting my research project to national and international competitions and presenting at a regional symposium
-earning a position at a local nationally renowned research institute continuing work similar to mine.
-entering usabo and being a potential semifinalist
-founding and presiding over an Arabic culture club that I established for the middle eastern minority at my school to promote awareness.
Some other minor things like how I forgot to mention NHS on my app. I might exclude this?

I don't want to come off as arrogant or annoying, but the most significant developments in my ec's, especially my research come after years of commitment to them.

Those ECs are pretty significant. Definitely worth e-mailing admissions and asking them to add them to your profile. They may send you away, or they may give you other instructions for updating your app, or they may just print and attach your e-mail to the application.

So you suggest I email admissions with all the things I would like to add? I guess that is easier than typing up a summary and mailing it. How late do you think I can do it to have an impact on my decision?

You can find out who is the Admissions Rep assigned to your area and send him/her an email updating your information. I recommend you also cc the main admissions email address as well to make sure the info makes it into your file. Just be sure to include your name and application number in the subject line. They are usually receptive to getting updated information, plus the additional contact might help demonstrate your continuing interest in the school.

Hard to say whether or not it will have an impact on their decision, but it’s a no lose proposition for you either way - it can only help.

Good luck!
