Optional Schools For Transferring

I currently attend UCSC and I have a 2.95 gpa. Now I know that my gpa is extremely low and I do not have a chance at getting accepted into a top ranking school, however, I am extremely unhappy at UCSC and I am hoping that there are options for transferring schools. If anyone has any schools that they can recommend I try transferring to, or any words of advice as to what I can do I'd greatly appreciate it. I already go to a UC and I don't want my options just to be State schools or small schools that are not academically recognized.

What do you like and dislike about Santa Cruz? How much can you afford? Listing criteria that you want in a school can help narrow down your choices.

I’d say first stay at UCSC for another year, just to bring your GPA back up. Or if you don’t want to do that you can also transfer out of UCSC and got to a CCC in your hometown. After that year, apply to as many UCs and CSUs as you can. If you have a 3.0+ you can pretty much get into any CSU you want…

What I dislike about Santa Cruz is mainly the fact that although is a top researching school, it lacks a medical school and pre-med program. I would like to go somewhere where I have opportunities to gain hands on experience. Also, I feel that this school lacks school spirit. That may not be as important, but that is definitely a factor in my unhappiness there. There are no strong sports, and I would like to go somewhere were the school is more unified and exciting. I am definitely staying another year to boost up my gpa  So with boosting my gpa, do I have more options?
