Dad got told about http://www.optionsforcollege.com/about.htm by a friend who had a daughter, Class of 2014. He now wants me to do it, go to the several interviews, do the online course, and thinks I'll get something out of it. Judging from their URL, it's mainly stuff I've already been doing (although the essay writing tips may be useful). I also don't want it to get entangled with what my HS GC is doing.

So, my question is, has anyone tried this out? Is the About page correct?

It seems like info you could get from books at the library or online, to be honest. I wouldn’t suggest it.

It’s pretty strange; personalized application lists?

Like @IsometricKiwi said, most books from the library about various colleges would do the same.

$300. Parents want it because the guy seems like he’d have some “special” knowledge others wouldn’t-told friend’s daughter, for examples, the CMU’s summer camp only offered STEM credits-no fine arts. Friend was impressed by the specificity.

Time spent on CC would be the same, possibly better. There are plenty of books and guides that cost much less. In the end it wouldn’t hurt if your parents want to pay for it though.
