I’m a prospective Bard student and I play the violin; however, I am not part of the music conservatory nor am I majoring in music. Is there a string orchestra/jazz band (??) (as a class or organization) that I can join? What would my options be?

There is both a college orchestra and college jazz band, as well as other ensembles- and you needn’t be a music major. There will be auditions for the orchestra at the beginning of the semester - and a meeting during L&T to talk about all the different musical options. N8Ma who is a poster on CC is the conductor of the orchestra. Feel free to send him an email or PM with any questions.

My D is a violist, not a music major, and has enjoyed playing in the orchestra and several other ensembles. There’s lots of opportunity and lots of support for musical involvement on campus.

Are there any opportunities for jazz violin?
