Order of precedence for physics 7A and chemistry

I am in the CoE as an EECS major as a freshman. I have taken AP phys C in high school. I have only taken Honors Chemistry in high school. Is it recommended that I take one class before the other? I only ask because in the sample schedule chemistry is always listed before physics. Furthermore, is it a smart decision to skip phys 7A if I 5 the AP Test? Will the material be something that I need to keep with me throughout EECS clases? Lastly, if I do decide to take physics 7A, should I take it in the first semester to have a class whose material I am familiar with so that my first semester is more relaxed?

Disclaimer: I’m an incoming freshman too so take my advice with a grain of salt.

I think taking Chem 1A first is usually suggested because Physics is more important in engineering in general; This applies to EECS especially since there’s virtually no chem involved in EECS. Taking Chem 1A first will allow you to go through the Physics 7 series (7A, 7B, 7C) in sequence rather than taking Physics 7A, skipping a semester with Chem. They don’t really build off the other but it’s just nice to get and stay in physics mode. Skipping 7A is up to you. The pros are getting out of a weeder class but if you’re really comfortable with Physics 7A, you can also try and retake it to buffer your GPA… although you’re not guaranteed anything. If I were you, I’d skip Physics 7A if I were comfortable with the material.

Go ahead and skip 7A if you can. It’s 7B that has more chemistry in it (think back to specific heat, free energy, etc…).

Thank you for the help. I’ll be taking chem in my first semester and following up on the physics series after that. This way I’ll have a better idea of whether I should skip physics or not later on when I have had some experience in school.
