I am trying to decide where I should go as a transfer student for communications/ journalism programs.

I like University of Oregon because
-the people seem to have personalities like mine (quirky)
-good music and journalism schools
-lots of school spirit

I like UC Santa Barbara because
-In-state cost
-A top public school

I actually like colder weather better and I am not much of a partier. I don't like the superficial feel that UCSB had. However, the pros of UCSB are keeping me from saying yes to Oregon. Help me!

Could you try UCSB for a year and if you don’t like it transfer to UO? (Or vice versa, I guess, but since UCSB is instate for you it might make more sense to try that first.)

I don’t know. I’ve transferred once already. This sounds ridiculous but I left my old college for a cc and now I’d rather not transfer again, if possible
I just really like Oregon, so I’m really leaning towards there…
I don’t know what would be better: a better school or one that has a better personality? (haha, if that makes sense)

Oh, I didn’t realize you’d already transferred once. It makes total sense you wouldn’t want to do that again.

Truthfully, when you’re talking about UCSB vs. UO, I don’t think there’s a lot of mileage to be gotten out of “better school.” It’s not like UCSB is Yale or anything. I’d go where you want to go, assuming the out-of-state tuition is do-able.

Thanks for that! I think I will be going to Oregon haha…
Go Ducks!

Just curious, did you end up choosing UO? I’m in the same situation now. I love SB weather, but I’m used to some rain as I’m from Northern California. I’m leaning towards UO- they seem to have so much school spirit!

The OP hasn’t posted for almost a year, so they may not be active anymore.
