Since they are so high on this list does that mean it is really hard to get into the nuclear engineering program here??? What about scholarship wise????

i have a 4.0 nonweighted and a 4.4 weighted sophmore-junior. i got a 720 math, 620 reading, 620 writing, 1960 composite on sat, and 720 Math 2 and 740 Bio SAT 2's.

I got good community service and EC's and a good essay.

I can get in, but i want to know if competition is really high for that 1 major because they are 8 in the nation for it.

I see from some other threads you are looking for scholarships. Are you in-state for Oregon?

I recently graduated from Oregon State with a mechanical engineering degree and I know many of the students/professors in the nuclear engr program. Knowing what I know and seeing what you have said about yourself, unless your heart is set on nuclear engineering at OSU, go somewhere else or choose a different major at OSU.

Many of my friends who were not able to get into Pro-School for ME (as you are not truely in the program for the first two years) simply switched majors to nuclear or industrial engineering. This has led to a culture of viewing these other majors as fallbacks if ME doesn’t work out when this is most definately not how it should be viewed. I have a lot of respect for these majors, but this is such a large problem at OSU that the college of engineering has implemented restrictions on moving from one pro-school to another.

Anyway, just my 2 cents. Good luck.
