I will be taking organic chemistry in 2 years and I've had a really bad experience with general chemistry. My question is how similar is Orgo to general chemistry (gas laws and stochiometry). I do very well in Biology because I am a visual learner and I want to know if organic chemistry will be also easy!

OChem and Gen chem are a world of apart but some more general concepts from Gen Chem do will help you understand OChem . For instance formal charges, geometry of molecules, and the base idea of thermodynamics and kinetics, you wont be doing gas laws and stochiometry.

If you are a visual learner OChem may not be too bad, a lot of the concepts rely on visualization of molecules and general space of molecules. However with OChem the class requires a lot of conceptual thinking and making good judgement as well as some memorization in order to know what reactions do what. One of the most classic OChem problems you will see is synthesis, in which you will be given a starting molecule and you must go to an ending molecule through multiple reactions. As you can guess this type of problem requires you to not only know your reactions but also requires you to use quite a bit of logic.

In general I would say Ochem is not easy but it is not as hard as many people make it out to be. As long as you do practice problems things will eventually click.
