Hi ,

So i have a bit of a dilemma right now. I'm about to start my sophomore year in a few weeks, and I wanted to get some opinions on which science courses to take together next year. I have already taken Gen chem (took it freshman year) and I am planning on taking Organic chem with another science this fall and spring, but I'm not which other science I should take it with. I realize Physics or Bio with Orgo are both very difficult due to the amount of material, but if you had to choose a combination of the two, which would it be: Organic chemistry with Physics or Organic chemistry with General bio?

I'm also planning on taking stats and a spanish course. And of-course the science courses above will both be with labs. Will this be doable?

Oh totally do-able, you probably just won’t want to do it more than once or twice! Double labs are a pain in the neck.

Do you like bio or physics better? If you have a preference, take which ever you like better, because you’ll be more likely to keep up with a class that has subject matter that interests you.

If you like them both the same, then I’d pick the one that seems to fit most strategically orgo. I took genetics the same semester as orgo (genetics was WAY EASIER but I took orgo honors, which is purportedly the most difficult class for premeds at my school)–the major bummer was that orgo tests were every third friday…and guess how often and which day genetics tests were?

Overlapping exams is a huge challenge. Take whichever one works better! Good luck!!

Well since you only want to take 2 science classes together next year, why not do bio and physics your sophomore year, and then orgo your junior year? That way, you will have more time to focus on orgo.

It does not matter. D. did Orgo with higher level Bio. She left Physics for junior year to have it fresh before MCAT.
