Orientation 2008 - Signed Up

We signed up for the May 19-20 orientation. We would have attended the earlier sessions but they conflict with AP exams that week. Be careful and make sure you check the link below if you are taking any AP exams.

Here is a loink to the College Board web site with the calendar for AP exams scheduled for May 2008.

How exciting! I really enjoyed family orientation since I had never seen the university before. It made me feel really comfortable about where I was sending my son for the next four years.

Attending May 15-16. AP exams all done by then.

we are looking forward to it.

We're registered for May 28-29. These were the first dates offered for Fall orientation based on my d's major of English-Creative Writing.

how many students attend each orientation session?

orientation looks like a good time is had by all...

YouTube - orientation leaders

I'm signed up for the May 28/29 as well. I became worried when I saw all the earlier orientation dates (since this is also class registration!) so I put a call into FSU looking to move up a week. However they said that already is the first week of orientations for the Fall 08 term. Just a tidbit for any other worriers out there.
They also said Not to wait for your confirmation in the mail as they usually come much closer to orientation (not good for locking in on a hotel- as many of you have already done.)

After your initial schedule is established with your adviser at the end of your orientation session, you will be able to continue to adjust your schedule during the summer. You can also make changes during drop/add the first week of school if something opens up that you really want.

at orientation for the summer session, does the student register for classes for both the summer and fall terms?

it seems like its better to be prepared ahead of time and have some ideas of which classes you want to take.

thanks

Has anyone else signed up?

nycollegedad, if attending school during summer term you cannot signup for fall classes until the end of july, which means you get stuck with the leftover classes, but thanks to drop add my schedule was still exactly how i wanted it.

wait does this mean freshmen starting in summer get shortchanged in the reg process???
can someone clarify for me do freshmen starting in summer c register for fall classes AFTER those freshmen starting in the Fall?

Does anyone know how many students typically attend each orientation session? Does FSU have a max number?

On Friday FSU finally made it official - they are cutting 1000 spots in the freshmen class for 2008.

The target is 2000 freshmen for summer and 3300 for fall. Last year 6300 were admitted, this year is will only be 5300.

Numbers will be cut from the low academic (SAT/ACT/GPA) end of applicants still waiting on a decision and serious review will take place of accepted students' final hs grades.

500 spaces are also being cut from accepted transfers and only transfers with an AA degree will be accepted.
