You can see her when the schoolyear starts. Or you can ask for a room change once you get here. Besides, making friends with someone doesn’t mean you can live together. Sometimes it’s easier to live with a non-friend because you can be more open about how you feel. If it were a friend, I’d be worried about offending them or making them feel bad but if it’s a stranger, then I can outright tell them when they do something annoying.

does anyone know if its required that parents attend? because i really want to be away from them for a couple days haha

Hey guys, I just got back from Orientation 2. Everything that OP said is correct, though he forgot to include the amazing skit performed by the SA’s before the carnival. It was actually really really good. Reference to Glee and Lady Gaga :)

Your parents are not required to attend. Mine did not come and they will be away from you the entire time even if they choose to attend. They are housed separately at Stuvi II while we stayed at Rich Hall. Keep in mind that if you stay overnight on Wednesday, you will get free breakfast on Thursday morning. Same goes for Thursday, etc.

Simply put, orientation was a blast. There are great people everywhere. Plan your schedule out if you can at home, so its a bit easier when you arrive. The Student Advisors are unbelievably friendly and are so cool to be around. You’ll love it. I just wish that I could have met more people, because once your placed into your group, its a bit harder to connect with most others. I still met a bunch of people from other groups/etc, but not as tight knit with them.

Hey Versii, I went to the barbecue on Thursday, you could have said hi lol

Yeah the skit was so funny. The Lady Gaga part was hysterical.

skit was top notch. think theres a video online anywhere?

I tried looking on http://www.bu.edu/bunivers but couldn’t find anything, sorry

LOL THAT’s exactly what I wanted to know… xD! I was like stalking the damn BU Beach to see when the BBQ was xD!

They don’t record the skit, but omg they did lady gaga this year? Last year they did Beyonce’s Single Ladies and haha omg the guy who did the dance was hysterical AND an amazing dancer!!!

I went to session 2 as well. I had fun and met a lot of interesting and intelligent people.

it sounds like so much fun wish mine was sooner…i have to wait for the last orientation session. the only upside to this is probably to move in a few days earlier.

Hanita, were you really there? Were you an SA? If you say yes, then HAH cause there’s only a few SMG groups and I can probably narrow you down. What’s your name? Just kidding. But orientation was a blast.

We could all end up seeing each other once we get to BU and not know it. :D

No I’m not an SA, I snuck in with some friends to get free burgers hahah

[Welcome to Facebook](<a href=“Facebook - log in or sign up”>Facebook - log in or sign up) Props to whoever was in group 81 lol

This is the wrong thread for this, but I’m trying to come up with a new layout for the student link. Anyone have any ideas because I can’t think of anything that would look good and cool?

In reference to the BU student link, think of it this way. It’s functional and encompasses everything into one convenient place. It’s coded very simply and with minimal graphics to make viewing it that much easier, and it’s especially great when I’m accessing it from my phone. Catchy graphics aren’t really needed for something like that, because they don’t need to draw you in to anything; you need to use it as a student.

As for webmail, I personally think Horde laid out in a weird way, and wish they would give us an option between that and something like roundcube, or squirrelmail. But you can forward the email from there to your regular email address anyway, I think.

And the skit is probably the best part, haha. They said that they hadn’t done a final rehearsal before they showed it to the first group, so it was especially impressive. Be ready for some great Lady GaGa, LOST, Mean Girls, and Glee references during it. :P

hi, i got a question. for the first day of orientation, the first day of activity is, as you mentioned, common ground. but where do students meet? I called the office of orientation and they mentioned sth about the George Sherman Union or sth, (GSU). what’s that about?
