Has anyone seen orientation dates posted yet?

I have heard they will be posted either shortly after May 1st or the third week of April. conflicting information from two current students leading orientation.

I checked and no dates yet. It will probably show up after graduation.

They do say on <a href=“Orientation | | Northeastern University”>www.northeastern.edu/orientation that there will be several dates in June and July.
I don’t know if I want to make vacation reservations until I have the exact dates.

There are dates throughout the summer from June-August, usually 2-3 per college. The exact dates vary by college. But there’s one basically every week of the summer.

Dates were posted this morning, if you go onto your myNEU and look in the self service tab you’ll see a place to register for a session.

@ctcsskier: This must be college-specific, because my D’s myNEU still doesn’t show any orientation dates. She is College of Science.

The dates were up earlier, I got a screen shot… I think they are working on the website right now (both the myNEU, and the orientation area of the regular website)

The word is they have been since taken down. Perhaps it was a mistake? Regardless, does anyone have the dates that saw them?

I guessing her’s were specific to Undecideds… Only ones that were listed on her portal:

Session B 6/23-6/24
Session C 6/30-7/1
Session G 7/28-7/29

Link is up here, but still a work in progress:

Thanks @ROCKFISHDG

Correction: Their system is down and is supposed to be back up soon.

My D is in the Bouve College and it was up earlier and the dates were:
Session B 6/23-6/24
Session D 7/7-7/8
Hopefully, they will add a few more choices when it comes back up!

When is the international orientation? I heard that out-of-region students are allowed to do that one just before classes start. That one does not show up as an option.

@rgosula

I don’t know when the international student orientation is, but I will be out of the country until August and won’t be able to make any of my college’s dates. I sent a message to the email listed on the orientation section of the website and they accommodated me by placing me in the very last session from August 27-28. It shows up on my portal as “exception.” I don’t know your situation, but you could always try that.

Is your choice of classes more limited because of that?

@rgosula Probably. My advisor told me that you are placed automatically into your core requirements, like for example I have to take Intro to Comp Sci and Its Applications, so I just get automatically placed into that by (I assume) the computer. However, for some of my other major requirements I can chose out of multiple courses, so I discuss which of those I want to take and get placed into them by my advisor during my meeting with her during orientation. So I’m assuming that the earlier the orientation, the more choice you have on which classes/sections of a class are available for your to chose from.

@rgosula I asked the same question and here’s the response I got:

“No, this won’t affect your class schedule. Midway through summer you’ll conduct pre-online advising with your college, then confirm classes during orientation.”

I’d assume that to some extent you would have limited options, but if you’re really in a bind (like I was) then it doesn’t seem too terrible.

Most of your classes will be pre-registered, so you won’t have to worry about getting into them anyway. It’s just if you have open electives or IB/AP credit. Even then, though, I went to an August orientation and got into every class that I wanted.

@Bourque461 that’s interesting because on welcome day I asked about the pre-online advising and my advisor said that they weren’t sure if they were going to be doing the pre-online advising for my major this year like they’ve done in previous years. Also, my orientation is the first one in like mid-June, if they don’t do the advising until mid-summer how am I going to confirm at orientation? hahah
