Due to the NCAA blackout going on April 9/10 we’ve had to switch to the second orientation period, i.e. April 16/17. As we are still flying in on Sunday afternoon, we’d love to arrange a second / seperate dinner that night for any parents, cadets, etc. that want to get together and talk thru this grand adventure. So post your details here, and we’ll set up a restaurant location and time once we know how many seats to reserve. And yes, Hornet, we’d love to have you and/or any of your buds come out this night too so check your schedule again :)

Dan, Judy, and candidate Michael Knight - NJ

Well, at least Dolphins89 and I won't be the only ones going on April 16/17. As for dinner plans, my mom and I will be flying in and be in Colorado Springs by (at latest) 3:00pm or so. Anyway, here's our details:

Mom and myself (the apointee)

Whoops. I put an 8 instead of a 3 in Dolphins39's name. My bad.

lol, I should still be able to go. I might have a report or GR on monday, but I'm good about getting that stuff done early at least.

We're in! My appointee daughter and myself (sorry - dad can't come this trip!). We should get to Colorado Springs late afternoon/early evening (4:00 ish, maybe 5:00??)

Hornet - it'd be nice to have you there too - bring another 2010 or two with you if you want!

lol, I'll see if G4C or eagle36 are around and want to go.

I dont know what time I am getting in. We are flying into Denver and driving to Colorado Springs; my mom isn't a great fan of flying so she wants as few trips as possible.

I found out that I'll be getting in to the 'Springs on Sunday pretty early, so just let me know when and where to meet for dinner. I look forward to meeting you, hornetguy, and whoever else you bring with you to dinner.

Dolphins - just let us know when you're flight gets in - should be about an hours+ drive from Denver to CS - we're doing the same thing....

The time (and location) for dinner will be set the week of the Orientation by whatever schedule Hornet has to abide by - we'd really like him to join us, so we'll make the reservations fit his timing first.

We'll be at the Hampton North by 1 pm more than likely, doing the tourist stuff, etc. until dinner.

Dknightfam

Here's where we stand so far for dinner on the 15th - cut/paste/add your name in a reply if you want in too - the more the merrier:

Dknightfam, wife, and son (3 from NJ)
Falcons'11 plus mom (2 from NC)
Dolphins39 plus mom (2 from FL, dependent on arrival time in CO)
Hornetguy (1 from AFA plus any hungry friends :)
Momof Hopeful2011 and daughter (2 from CA)

Hornet - I assume you have the same 7:45 pm "back-to-base" timeframe as you needed for the April 8th orientation / dinner date?

Just bringing this thread back to the top for any NEW April 16/17 Orientation attendees to see and reply to.....

depending on the time, i'll have to see. catholic choir has a trip to Chicago that weekend, and i am not sure what time we come back sunday

Yup, I am still under the same constraints. I will be sure to let everyone know if anything changes there.

Just checking in - do we have a time/place set up yet? Who all is going?

I will try and send paperwork up, but times are set at 1900 for return and maybe earlier based on 4 dig knowledge tests. Keep all updated.

Mom - here is that latest listing of interested parties:

Dknightfam, wife, and son (3 from NJ) - Hampton Inn North
Falcons'11 plus mom (2 from NC)
Dolphins39 plus mom (2 from FL, dependent on arrival time in CO)
Hornetguy (1 from AFA plus any hungry friends)
Momof Hopeful2011 and daughter (2 from CA)

It appears that Hornet and freinds will be a game-day decision due to a trip they'll be on, but if they make it back on time, then they also appear to have a 7 pm report back time, so dinner will probably be as early as possible to allow them to join us - perhaps 5 pm.

The other Orientation Dinner Group is thinking Famous Daves (a good BBQ/steak place) which is within walking distance of some of the hotels so I'm fine with that too. Plus if things don't work out there on the 8th we'll have a week to change our plans to another restaurant :)

So for now, let's make the plans to be Famous Daves at 5 pm and we'll tweak this as things get closer.

Dknightfam

PS: The more the merrier so if anyone else is still out there and interested in getting together to chat about what is in front of our kids, feel free to add your name to the list....

As hornetguy has said, it's a bit tricky to come to these dinners because of the time we have to be back, plus the new knowledge tests that are early on Sunday evenings now. We'll do what we can.

It all sounds good to me.
Summary:
10 people plus however many cadets... (plus any not yet signed up)
5:00 pm
Famous Daves 8330 Razorback Rd Colorado Springs

Can't wait - those of you on the 8th - let us know how it goes (not just the dinner! We want the scoop on Orientation too!).

See you all in a few weeks.

Hey everyone, just letting you know I got approval and I WILL be there Sunday. I'm not sure who else in 2010 will be there, but I will at least. See ya'll there!

-G4C

Again, also approved to stay out late.
