[Are waivers available for Preview, Transfer Preview, or Family Preview?

A limited number of waivers are available for students who demonstrate financial need. The waiver covers the fees for the student and the first family member, if one is attending Family Preview. You must have a FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) on file for the academic year, be Pell Grant eligible, have an EFC of $0.00, and you or anyone in your household have received benefits from a federal benefits programs. If you would like to inquire about receiving a need-based waiver for orientation fees, please email us at newstudentinfo@dso.ufl.edu with your name and UFID for a response. The last day to apply for a waiver is June 30 for summer and fall admits and October 31 for spring admits. Do not wait for a response to register for a session. Once we determine your eligibility we will notify you via phone or email (depending on how you contacted us), whether or not you have been awarded a waiver. Eligibility is checked twice a month so allow for 15 working days maximum for a response.](<a href="http://www.dso.ufl.edu/nsfp/orientation/faq.php#q16%5D%5Bb%5DAre">http://www.dso.ufl.edu/nsfp/orientation/faq.php#q16)

So I sent them an email near the beginning of April and have yet to receive a response. I just sent another email yesterday.

Has anyone received one of these waivers? and if so how? Did you just email them?

I got a waiver, but I got mine because I went to the “Destination Gainsville” and had filled out my FASFA in Febuary that made me eligible. My waiver was a bit different because it only covered my costs.

Can you keep me posted on what they say to your email? I sent my request in mid March and its over a month later and I have yet to hear anything. they said 15 days. they shouldnt have given us a timeline if they cant stick to it .

Does Earned Income Credit count toward the waiver as a “federal benefits program?”
