When choosing an orientation date is there anything to consider? Is it easier to get classes at one over another?

The general consensus is that the earlier, the better your chances are getting classes you want. However, even within an orientation session, your luck may be different from your peers.

I’ve heard that it doesn’t matter which session you go to because there are a certain amount of openings in each class for each orientation session, so earlier isn’t better.

Your orientation session doesn’t matter. They reserve a number of spots for each session. There might be some benefit in going to an earlier session though. Your counselor can get you into classes you really need and override the reserved seats for the session. This probably only happens for the earlier sessions.

Earlier orientation sessions used to matter. Now they don’t b/c of the reservations system. But better safe than sorry and get an earlier orientation. I got the 2nd orientation during my ucla 1st year… and could choose any class i wanted.
