Orientation

Is orientation from wednesday to friday or just thursday and friday?
the dates on the site say wed-friday but thats weird cuz they dont provide board for wednesday night and the schedule says that the welcome address is on thursday morning…
im so confused >.<; hahaha
please help~ :P

I just got home from my orientation session.

Wednesday is like a fun bonus day. You can do common ground, which helps you meet other people, and city excursions, which helps you get to know the city of Boston. These things are just for fun, but I highly recommend staying on campus Wednesday night so you can do them. I didn’t do common ground, just the city excursion, but a lot of people did both.

Actual orientation-related activities start on Thursday and end Friday. By “orientation-related,” I mean that you register for classes and listen to a bunch of informational presentations. It’s a great time overall.

When did you take your writing assessment? Is that on the Wednesday or the Thursday that you’re there?

You only take the writing test if you took the TOEFL (meaning that English isn’t your first language). But if that applies to you, it was on Thursday. I didn’t have to take it.

oh alright, thanks. what’s your school and major?

CAS and international relations

What is the writing assessment all about? Which students require it? And why is it only for students who attend Common Ground?

There is no writing assessment anymore. I don’t know what you’re referring to about it only being for Common Ground either. They used to require it for every student entering BU but now as mentioned about it’s only for TOEFL students.

Hi. I’m an incoming freshman to Boston University and I signed for the end of July orientation. I’m really worried that there won’t be any more classes left as I have just checked the classes and a number of them have only 5-20 spaces left. Some have 100 spaces though they may be filled up quickly too. I know that my orientation is really late and there are still three more orientations before mine. I’ll be taking general courses but I feel like a lot of them are going to be filled up. General courses usually hold a lot of people but for some reason it seems like the general courses I have looked up such as general physics 1 have only several spaces left. What should I do if by the time I get to orientation I won’t be able to take the general courses that I really need to take? I’ll really appreciate some comments of my issue! Thanks!
