Yea so i'm drifting around not knowing what i wanted to be and lately i wanted to become an orthodontist.

I want to know how much they make. I googled alot i found a WIDE variety of answers everywhere from 150K-450K.

What do you think/know they make? (It would be good if you know one in real life and their salary)

Thank you.

(And Please please dont make a post saying "If your in it for the money dentistry isnt right for you.)

According to the ADA (American Dental Association), the average salary in 2001 for an orthodontist was $279,440. Sure, this information might be slightly outdated, but it gives you an idea of how well orthodontists are paid. It is probably the most competitive specialty (besides OMFS), so you're gonna have to be at the top of your class and have great boards to get into a program.

EVERYONE in dental school (and it probably is around 95% of your class) will want to go into orthodontics. very few people in the class will make it into orthodontics.

Is it not obvious that salaries within a profession vary widely? That $150-$450 is probably the best answer you can get? And that one data point from some guy on an Internet bulletin board is perhaps the least reliable way to get such information?
