OSU business+honors Vs university of virginia

i am an international student.
quite confused here. since we do not get aid anywhere virginia is difficult financially but i know that its a better university as compared to ohio state.
and ohio on the other hand has offered me a descent scholarship plus honors program and there seem to be some people totally in love with it.
i do want to go to law school and want my first degree to be business. with virginia its not even a guarantee that i wud get into mcintire. any advice?

Im in the same boat as you. Really, I think Im going to go to my state university with a lot of cash over uva but i would say theres a good possibilty that ill try to transfer into uvas biz program. I say this cause i would hate to spend around 40K at uva then get rejected from the commerce

virginia’s business program is surely the best but the acceptance rate for a UVA students is 62% compared to 13% for external transfers! that sucks!

go where they will pay for you!!!

Here is my opinion:
Personally, I wouldn’t take the chance at going to UVa and then getting rejected from McIntire. I mean, Ohio State is a great school and will give you a great education. Ultimately, if you put a lot of effort into your education, you can get a lot out of it wherever you go, and grad schools will see this. If money is a big issue, OSU might be much more worth it just for the absence of loans.
However, if money is NOT an issue, you COULD take the chance. You could spend the $40,000 at UVa for the chance to get into McIntire, and then also apply to transfer elsewhere as a fallback to ensure entrance into some Business program. However, this is risky, and I wouldn’t do it.

Law school admission is based on where you go for undergrad (besides your grades of course and LSAT score). UVA sends many of its students to top law schools…I don’t know what the case is with OSU.

Thanks all of you for your advice. just if we add Cornell [AEM] to those two. how would the scene change? just got the decision from there. and wahoomb ,from the law school perspective how wud compare virginia with cornell?

Cornell being an ivy league sends a good chunk of its students to top law schools. Cornell Law (ranked #12) and UVA Law (ranked #10) admits a good portion of its own undergraduates to its law school. At UVA at least, something like 50-60 entering first year law students come from UVA. I think that if you’re ultimate goal is law school, you should go to the best school you can.
