My D was just admitted to OSU. Prior to this all correspondence was sent to her google mail address. Has any admitted student set up an OSU e-mail address? Are you required to at this point in the process? I don’t want her to miss anything important in the next month or two ( eg scholarship and honors info). Any insight is appreciated.

bump…

If you look on OSU’s website, they list instruction for transferring your BUCKid email over to whatever email service you are already using. You do this by logging on to your Buck ID and then switching it. Like I said, directions are online. I already changed mine with no problems to my google account.

Here are instructions on how you can have your OSU email forwarded to an email account that you check more frequently:go to my.osu.edu . If you have not done so already, you will need to activate your account. Activation is only done once and you will set up your osu password. In order to activate, you will need a dot number like smith.23 . Using the same website, you can forward email to a third party provider (gmail, aol, etc). It is important to note that osu will only respond to email sent from the official address. To use this, go to buckeyemail.osu.edu with the address form smith.23@buckeyemail.osu.edu . Some people report problems logging into the official account while having their email forwarded.

Does OSU stop sending email to the email the student provided on the application once he or she is admitted? In other words, do you have to officially have the buckeye email forwarded to gmail or whatever in order to receive emails from herein?

Once admitted all email will begin to be sent to the student official OSU email account…so to be sure you don’t miss anything just set it up to forward to the account your S or D checks and uses all the time.

There will be a ‘grace period’ when email will be sent to both addresses. Official correspondence must come from OSU emaill. All housing, orientation, and tuition information will come through the official Buckeyemail.
