OSU vs Cornell vs Northwestern

Hi all.
Out of the colleges I’ve been accepted to, I have narrowed it down to three:

Northwestern University
Cornell University
Ohio State University.

At Ohio State I have three different merit scholarships that stack up to essentially no cost. The other two would be full cost.
I am majoring in engineering. At OSU I would be in the honors engineering program.
I’m having a hard time deciding as all three are such great options.
I am not looking for opinions on the difference in cost but more on subjects that are less obvious (differences in student life, quality of engineering program, job placement, etc…).
Thanks for the help!

Have you visited them?

yes, all three. cornell and northwestern were in the summer though so i was unable to get a feel for the student life.

Have you posted this on the engineering forum? There are a lot of very knowledgeable people over there.

No, but i will do. thanks for the suggestion!

For what it is worth, OSU and its honors engineering program has been a good fit for my well-rounded bright son.

I don’t know if this is the best place to put it, but I’m going into polysci and am trying to decide between NW and OSU. HELP! :)

OSU
7k financial aid

NW
20k financial aid

NW hands down

This’ll be a tough request since you’d need someone who has been a student at multiple schools to truly compare them. Most people (if not considering money) are going to answer based on perceived prestige alone.

One thing to consider is the atmospheres. Northwestern and OSU are in large cities (Chicago larger and with better transportation, obviously, but Columbus can hold its own.) Cornell is more isolated and rural.

How do you feel about athletics (as a participant or a fan)? Again, they’ll be different at each school.

Engineering in Northwestern is top-notch but student life is what is all about. NW campus is somewhat big and lots of green but OSU campus is twice the size and twice the activities, plus on game days the campus becomes very active and with lots of energy as the mighty buckeyes try to defeat their enemy.
