OSU vs Northeastern: does it matter where I study pharmacy?

I am really surprised that the name “Northeastern” brings blank stares from your family. Whenever we told people our son was attending Northeastern, they typically replied by telling us what a wonderful school it was and asking how he liked Chicago, and then of course we would have to explain that Northeastern is a co-op school in Boston, unrelated to the hoity toity Big 10 school, Northwestern

I graduated from University of Michigan which is 1000 times better than The Ohio State University :D. Northeastern could be a lot more expensive than OSU unless you get some merit aid. (I don’t know what the out of state cost is at OSU… is there any reciprocity with Illinois?) As far as employ-ability, the co-op program at NEU is a big help.

I think Northeastern’s pharmacy program is actually one of its best programs and is extremely competitive to get into. Co-ops should make you much more employable as well since you’ll graduate with solid work experience.

I don’t know pharmacy well, but I had a high school friend who was a very good student and went to Butler. Northeastern was her first choice and she didn’t get into the program.

Welp, I’m officialy going to Ohio State so please stop reminding me how awesome neu is haha. at least with osu i get the flexibility if i change my mind about pharm…

And I know NJres. I was deferred from UMich, my top choice school. But thanks for reminding me.

“relatively unknown school such as NEU.” - That’s not a valid argument against NEU.

OP - It looks like you have sorted through some good options and picked the best fit for you. Good luck!

You made the right decision. OSU is an amazing school and soon to be one of the very best public institutions in the country. You didn’t want to go to that pathetic little school up north, nothing worthwhile ever comes out of that place :)

From the west coast- dont know anything about those schools.
However, I generally wouldnt advise someone in high school, to choose their graduate school before they have attended college.
