The University of Oklahoma website indicates incoming freshman have an “average” GPA of 3.5 and ACT of 25. There are NO minimums listed, or I can’t find that info – perhaps because of the large number of recruited athletes. Does anyone know what the low range might be for consideration into musical theater? My son has a 21 ACT and 3.0 - though that might get a bit better in the coming months. Is it even worth applying?

Here’s their listed admission criteria: [Freshman Admissions Requirements - Admissions - The University of Oklahoma](<a href=“Freshman Admission”>Freshman Admission) Note they state they encourage all students to apply, and if you think his scores will improve (has he taken SAT?) it may be worth considering. Keep in mind that the University of Oklahoma requires a prescreening before students are invited to campus to audition – either in person (my daughter was invited to campus last year after her Unifieds audition) or via video. They told her they invited approximately 90 kids to campus, after prescreening 3000, so you might want to look at this section as well: [OU Musical Theatre](http://www.ou.edu/finearts/musicaltheatre/apply-now.html) Good luck to your son as he works on his application/auditions. Is he a current senior?

Yes, we know about the prescreen and he is recording a DVD Sept. 17 - he is a senior and so it begins…
I’ve been reading this forum - so I know the odds: if they had 90 on-campus auditions and accepted 12, that says it all. But he does have some things going for him: strong references from his voice teacher, (a college instructor herself and voice coach at The Santa Fe Opera) and from his theater teacher (an OU grad)…he a voice with incredible timber and a strong stage presence.
But if he can’t get past the Admissions Office none of that matters.
Thanks for the very good information.
