@Knowsstuff I restarted the phone, still no search button. I just reapplied a new phone theme, still no improvement. Will try and adjust font size in chrome… this is bizarre.
I don’t see the search button at the bottom of the thread on my android phone either, running an ad-blocking browser. Don’t see it on the chrome browser on my phone either, I’m running the latest version of Android on my Pixel 2.
I do see it on the laptop.
The magnifier search in the threads is not visible on the phone
Agree, not visible on my Android cell. Yes, on the tablet.
I’m also having an odd occurance where I click, say, bookmarks, and am taken inside a thread I’ve viewed, but not bookmarked. Or similar.
@suzyQ7
You said in portrait and landscape you only saw numbers 99>>. Didn’t the restart fix it so on landscape you see 1,2,3…99?
As far as the search button on my Pixel 3a and One Plus 3(android) it is in the top right corner. It’s the magnifying glass this right next to the bullseye /graduate hat icon (is there a name for this?) in the center then all the way left is the three lines icon.
I see this in both portrait and landscape modes. It is full search feature. Is this what your looking for? @jym626, @notrichenough
@Knowsstuff No, the one we are talking about about appears next to the reply box on laptops and I think tablets, but not on the phone.
The one in the top right corner isn’t speciic to the thread you’re on. It’s murder, on a long thread, to get where you want without the magnifier down near the page numbers list.
However, for the magnifying glass in the top right corner, if you use advanced search, you can search by sub-forum.
Might serve as a back door way of finding a specific forum or sub-forum for those who are having trouble as well as the whole list is there.
I was going to quote this, but I don’t see how I can unless I do it manually
I hope you continue to have millions of posts after this change…maybe the new people looking for info will come, but will the regulars who answer the posts stick around? I know I am monitoring my forum (CWRU) but am spending less time here answering questions as it is hard to find them and I don’t care to spend the effort visually/scrolling.

Sorry just noticed my post, posted twice. Sorry… But once I find one way to do something on this forum, I stick with it plus as stated you can search subforums. If I notice something else will let you know.
Regarding brand new posters that seem suspicious: there is a new thread that sounds like an adult but claims to be a current transgender male undergrad asking about the advisability of transferring from a woman’s college. The poster is brand new and the question is the first comment. It seems obvious to me from word choice and how the situation is presented that it’s not a young person nor a real scenario. Just wanted to say to whoever is now running CC and trying to manipulate the metrics: we see you.
Get used to doing a lot of those fake posts to generate conversation as the old-timers here (me included) become so turned off by the changes that we are spending less of our valuable time answering actual people in need of advice…
This isn’t new but the “one post newbies” drive me crazy. Someone posts a question, receives multiple replies, many of which ask for more information in order to answer the question, and the person never comes back. I know that inactive threads are closed. Are accounts also closed after a certain period of inactivity?
No
I call this a hit-and-run poster. If I see, or if it’s flagged, I closed the thread for that reason. But don’t flag just because a poster has not answered a question after a few hours, or even a couple of days.
@lookingforward That did work but landscape view is awful and unusable. Oh well!
@Knowsstuff on the phone the top magnifier (which takes forever to scroll up to) takes you to the general search, not the subforum search. And to have to scroll through the subforum list on that search option takes forever, and by then I’ve forgotten what thread I was reading or what I was looking for!! Not worth the hassle.
@jym626. OK. It’s the only thing I see on my phone. Will keep searching (no pun intended).
@jym626

EXACTLY! @knowstuff if you try looking for say Early Decision in the Wesleyan subforum using the magnifying glass at the top, by the time you scroll (on your phone) eons have passed. On the laptop, if you are on the Wesleyan subform, you can use the magnifying glass at the bottom to find the words. Not so (now) on the android phone. Same if you wanted to search this specific thread. UGH.
I’ve flagged more posts today than ever before. What the heck is going on?
