Out of state residency???

Hey everyone! I'm a transfer student at an out of state college, and I have to live here for 12 consecutive months in order to gain residency so I don't have to pay out of state tuition next year. But my roommate was telling me how some of her friends were able to find ways to go home during the summer but still gain residency. Has anyone ever done this?! And if so how? Thanks for the help :)

Residency rules vary from state to state, and possibly even from public university to public university within the state. They also can depend on your current state of residence. Someone else’s experience won’t generally apply to you, and it may be anecdotal. If your intent is to stay strictly within the rules set by the state and the universities then talk to the university finance people for the rules that apply to you.
