I'm going to UCF and I'm an out of state student so obviously I'll be paying out of state tuition. But after my first year, since I've lived there for a year, could I change to in state tuition after my freshmen year?

There is good information on the website if you dig a bit…
You must live off-campus for a year before you can become in-state - I believe this also means in non-university affiliated housing.
Also, FL drivers license, FL car registration, can not be claimed as a dependent on parent’s tax return, must have enough $$ in the bank to pay for in-state tuition (@$8,000).
You must fill out some paperwork to apply.

We want D to live in a dorm for her freshman year for the experience and connections and convenience. So our plan is for her to live off-campus for sophomore year, and plan to do what we need to achieve in-state status for junior year.

I would love to hear from others who have successfuly changed from out-of-state to in-state status… do they make it really difficult, or is it more lenient than they make it sound???
