outlook for Bioengineering and Biomedical engineering

Hi everyone, I am going to my second year in University of Toronto. I am currently in a program called Engineering Science, and I will be choosing my major next year.

I was thinking about majoring in Biomedical Engineering(or bioengineering) basically because i like designing and solving problem, and want to apply these skills on medical problems. however, after looking at some other posts, I realize that it is hard to get a good job with a undergrad BME degree.

so the first part of the question is: is it really that hard to find a job as a biomedical engineer? How about with a Master degree? how is the future of this field?

and the second part is: I am planning to pursuit Master degree in BME or bioengineering(I found them both interesting) probably in US. Would it be a better idea if I major in EE or CE first, then go to master in BME? Do BME school find people with a lot of EE or CE skills but only few biology knowledge "attractive"? which one would be better in terms of getting a master degree and having a career in biomed engineering? I like math and programming stuff, but I don't want to be a pure electrical or computer engineer. My terminal goal is to work on medical problems.

thanks

You need a PhD. Most of your EngSci classmates will get a PhD, though a good number end up in industry.
