<p>Just watched the movie Outside Providence. It was terrific and Brown is a significant part of the story line. </p>

<p>Smiles: The movie came out in the late 80’s. Alec Baldwin is the biggest name actor.</p>

<p>Great movie. Great soundtrack, too. And once upon a time, the director of admissions at Brown was named Rogers.</p>
<p>I’ve passed it on TV quite a few times and new Brown was a part but never watched. Do they actually feature our campus, or do they, like many other films, just use USC or UCLA close up and take some canned distance shots on Brown’s campus…</p>
<p>Melody: It is about the Brown admission process to a degree but no shots of the campus. </p>
<p>However you will not be disappointed. You can probably rent through BB or Netflix.</p>

<h1>2 I watched the movie before I came to Brown per the advice of a friend. It was decent although not amazing. Alec’s accent was absolutely terrible but I liked his nickname for his son.</h1>
<p>The movie is set in Pawtucket (Puhtucket, aka “the bucket”)…coincidentally where I’ll be working next year.</p>

<p>Regardless the film provides some laughs which is a good thing.</p>
<p>it’s actually the only film i know that takes place at brown AND actually uses the brown campus</p>
<p>there are several shots on the main green, outside the van wickle gates, and one of the main character sneaking into university hall</p>
<p>Lol I love this movie. another reason to love Brown.</p>
<p>If the lead actress is anything like the typical Brown coed then it ought to be an interesting four years.</p>
